Hand-Carved Bronze Replica of an Iron Age Gold Stater, c. 55 BC, Celtic horse coin necklace.
Step into the world of Iron Age Britain with this handcrafted reproduction of a remarkable Celtic gold stater struck by the Atrebates tribe around 55 BC. Originally minted over two thousand years ago, these coins are among the finest examples of Celtic artistry, transforming Greek influences into bold, flowing designs rich with symbolism and spiritual meaning.
The Atrebates were a powerful Celtic tribe whose kingdom occupied much of what is now southern England. Descended from a tribe that had migrated from Gaul, they established prosperous settlements, traded extensively across the English Channel, and became one of the first British tribes to produce their own gold coinage. Their coins reflect a distinctive artistic style that favored symbolic expression over realistic representation, giving them a timeless and mystical beauty.
At the center of this design is the sacred horse, one of the most important symbols in Celtic culture. The horse embodied strength, courage, freedom, vitality, and noble spirit, while also serving as a symbol of leadership, prosperity, and the connection between the earthly and spiritual worlds. Beneath the horse appears a wheel, widely interpreted as a solar symbol representing the eternal cycle of life, movement, and divine protection. The surrounding spirals, pellets, and abstract motifs further express the Celts' deep reverence for nature, the cosmos, and the unseen forces that shaped their lives.
Meticulously hand-carved and individually kiln-fired in solid jeweler's bronze. After firing, each piece is carefully hand-finished and signed on the back, preserving the character and craftsmanship of the original sculpture.
More than a historical reproduction, this necklace is a celebration of Celtic heritage and artisan craftsmanship—a wearable connection to one of Britain's most fascinating ancient civilizations.

Bronze has been valued since antiquity for its strength and warm, golden tone. Over time, it naturally oxidizes—much like silver—creating a rich patina that adds depth and character. Its original luster can be easily restored with a jeweler’s polishing cloth as needed.
