Sobek was the crocodile god of strength, power, virility, fertility and protector of the Nile river.
He protected the Egyptian army, the pharaohs, and the ancient Egyptian people. His strength and courage allowed the Pharaoh to overcome obstacles and also protected him from evil magic.
Sobek is the God of the Nile because he controlled the waters and the fertility of the soil.
